Blue line that fades away

Huge congratulations to our amazing students and staff at the Gilbert Adult Learning Program! We're thrilled to announce that they have been awarded ‘Excelling Program of the Year for Overall Adult Education Services' by the Arizona Department of Education for the second year in a row.

The Gilbert Adult Learning Program offers GED and Adult Basic Education/Adult Secondary Education (ABE/ASE) classes to help prepare adults for GED exams and/or provide further enrichment.

The program offers two programs to serve our community including:

  • GED and Adult Basic/Secondary Education
  • English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELAA)

The GED and Adult Basic Education/Adult Secondary Education (ABE/ASE) classes help you prepare for the GED exam or to provide enrichment in the following areas:

  • Language Arts (Reading & Writing
  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • College and Career Readiness

Classes are designed to address the diverse educational needs of adult learners with small class instruction in all four test areas and access to computer software, textbooks, and worksheets to complement your study plan.

When a student enters our program, standardized assessments in reading, writing and math are administered and the student's lesson path is determined. Individual assignments are made based on the results of these assessments. Students must attend registration prior to enrolling in a GED class. Classes are scheduled during the morning and evening to accommodate your schedule.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes provide instruction for people who desire to learn or improve their English language proficiency in order to enter the workforce or pursue post-secondary opportunities. Students who do not speak English as their first language will learn reading, writing, speaking and listening skills as well as computer literacy. College and career exploration, in addition to civics education, are topics also embedded in our curriculum.

You must be at least 16 years old and have withdrawn from high school to enroll in our classes. Minors need to register with a parent or legal guardian and all students must register prior to starting a class.

You must be able to declare you are lawfully in the United States in order to take our classes and be able to provide a valid photo ID. Regular attendance is necessary.
